Representative of Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), Vadim Ampelonsky, believes that the main purpose of such websites is to involve children in gambling. He also added that any kind of gambling is banned in Russia.
In the framework of the fight against children’s online casinos, the csgofast.com website where the very popular game CS GO is available was blocked. Since this is a shooter, in order to succeed, ones need weapons, armor and other artifacts. Due to them being expensive, some websites suggest winning them.
The online casino is connected to the famous Steam game platform which has its own payment system. The won goods can be both utilized in the game and sold having money withdrawn through the Qiwi payment system.
It is also reported that the blocked website belongs to a company that owns several online casinos as well as crypto currency exchangers.
Since the amendments to the laws on gambling have been in force since 2015, Roskomnadzor has the authority to block the online casino since that time. At the moment, this process is being actively conducted.
