The Commission’s innovation is that at least 20% of the proceeds go to charity.
The maximum possible prize for one person should not exceed 25,000 pounds or 10% of the revenue, whichever is greater.
The Commission also added that if the prize is not of money nature, it is more difficult to determine the value of the winning and to understand if the lottery adheres to the rules of maximum winnings or not.
Even if the prize was donated to the operator, it is determined by the market value rather than the amount that the operator must pay for it.
The Commission also mentioned the importance of reporting. Operators must provide the Gambling Commission with detailed information about their lotteries. All active lotteries are required to submit reports.
Totally Gaming has commented on the situation by noticing that lotteries are fundamentally different from other spheres of gambling. The lottery market is becoming more crowded, so the Commission has repeated its basic regulations to help operators avoid accidental violations.
